Winter Weather Driving Tips

When the weather gets colder, it is inevitable we will face rain, snow, hail, and other adverse weather conditions. This makes it quite dangerous for those who are getting on the road to visit their friends and family during the holidays. With an influx in celebrations, more and more people are putting themselves at risk of drunk driving accidents. This is why it is important you prepare both yourself and your vehicle for what is to come, such as increased traffic, slippery driving conditions, road closures, DUI checkpoints, more and more drunk drivers on the road, and more.

The following are our winter weather driving tips, including but not limited to:

  • Drive slower than you normally would, and keep more distance than you would expect to in perfect conditions.
  • Don’t accelerate or decelerate too rapidly.
  • Don’t use cruise control when it is raining or snowing.
  • Take an Uber or Lyft on busy evenings, even if you have only had 1 drink.
  • Lastly, if all else fails, stay home! Going out in adverse weather conditions is never a good idea.

Following the above tips, as well as generally remaining cautious, may help save a life--whether it is yours or that of another’s.
